6th-This week the six grade will finish their review for finals. For the past two weeks the sixth grade received review packets for each unit that was covered.

They are expected to know:

  • saludos y despedidas (greetings/farewells)
  • los mandatos y preguntas (commands and questions)
  • el tiempo y las estaciones (weather and seasons)
  • la fecha, los días de la semana, los meses del año (the date, days of the week, months of the year)
  • masculino v. femenino (masculine and feminine words)
  • los articulos definidos e indefinidos (definite and indefinite articles)
  • los materiales escolares (classrooms school supplies)
  • la hora (the time)
  • los adjetivos (adjectives)
  • ser (the verb “to be”and its conjugations)
  • la familia (the family)
  • la casa (the house)
  • la ropa (clothing)
  • los colores (colors)
  • el cuerpo (body)

8th-The eight grade also started their review with their vocabulary and grammar packet however, the packets distributed at the beginning of the year has in depth coverage and explanation of each unit. The following links included the review packets, speaking and writing practice for the FLACS and website link that explains the breakdown of the exam. I recommend that everyone visit this website because it has a breakdown of vocabulary and grammar that is explored in both 7th and 8th grade.

The FLACS will be given Monday June 23, 2014. 

The format of the exam is as follows:

 Part 1 Speaking – 3 conversations Categories:(A) socializing or expressing feelings (10 Points)(B) providing/obtaining information (10 Points) (C) persuasion (10 Points) 5 utterances or interactions with the teacher for each task 30 points
 Part 2A Listening  Students have to listen to oral passages in Spanish 2A – 10 multiple-choice questions in English (20 Points) 2B – 5 multiple-choice questions in Spanish (10 Points) 2C – 5 multiple-choice questions in English. Answers in pictures. (10 Points) 40 points 
 Part 3 Reading  3A – 6 multiple-choice questions in English (12 points) 3B – 4 multiple-choice questions in Spanish (8 points)  20 points
 Part 4 Writing 2 notes 50 words  10 points
