This week begins the season of fall!  We will be discussing the changes that the new season brings in class as we continue exploring our favorite fall theme – apple picking!

Fall is for apple picking and tasty apple treats!  We had a nice time baking apples with our classmates and a few parent volunteers last week.  It was nice to share tasty apple treats with our families and friends!  We will have some more apple fun in the week ahead.  We will have a number of apples of different colors in our classroom.  We will observe and sort these colored apples and conduct the apple taste test on them.  Afterwards, we will compare and contrast the different types of apples and share our findings on them.  We will plant apple seeds from the apples we will eat too.  Our math theme this week is “Shorter, Longer, Taller” and we will use these apples to measure differences in length and height.  Johnny Appleseed will also be paying us a theatrical visit to sing songs and retell the Johnny Appleseed story with our class at Chapel.  It should be another week filled with apple fun!

In addition to apple picking, our core concepts this week include:  Letter A, the color green, the number three, the shape of a rectangle, a Bible study of creation days 6 & 7 and math measurement concepts – shorter, longer, taller.
