Hello preschool friends and welcome to what is sure to be a fun, educational, and memorable year in the pre-k. We are so excited about our new curriculum and can’t wait to begin implementing all of the new ideas it has to offer. Please check our blog each week as it will be updated by myself or Mrs. Krass and will let you know what you can look forward to in our classrooms each week.
This week we begin with the rules for school, classroom safety, playground safety, and fire drill safety.
Will start the year by reviewing some concepts that the children may have been learned in nursery or at home, such as colors, numbers, and shapes. This week we will start with the color red, circle, and number 1.
Our first science unit is about apples. We will begin learning about red apples and make a red apple collage. We will have red apples for snack on Friday and read a beautiful book called The Apple Tree’s Discovery by Peninnah Schram, and Rachael Eckstein Davis.
Jesus time this week focuses on the concept “Jesus Loves Me”, as we begin to build a foundation in Jesus’ love for the children.
Some stories we will read this week include, 10 Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss, Franklin Goes to School by Paulette Bourgeois & Brenda Clark, Clifford’s First School Day by Norman Bridewell, and Hurray for Pre-K by Ellen B. Senisi.
Some of our centers this week will include red play dough, Legos, water table, and the kitchen.
Have a blessed week!
