Welcome to Trinity’s Fifth Grade. I am so glad your student is with us this year.

Even with that, We will begin to get into some of the curriculum and routines…

Math: We will begin our ‘page a day’ math. This consists of a sheet of 12 questions that are solved using various math procedures. We complete one each day to sharpen skills and improve our math brains. These are done as a class or independently, but we always go over the answers together. The packet for the week is collected and graded as a math classwork grade.

Grammar: Unit 1 in text: Kinds of Sentences.

Reading: We will be reading various passages and completing comprehension questions. Most of this will be done independently to further assist me in getting to know your student as a reader.

Science: We will begin our ‘Question of the Week’ packets. Each 5 days a different question is asked and answered with the science explanations getting more in depth each day. This is done as a class or independently and graded as a classwork grade. Ask your student what the science question of the week is.

Religion: We will begin a unit on the Old Testament. There will be a quiz upon completion.

SS: We will explore an issue of Scholastic News.

Things to know:
We don’t begin changing for gym until Oct.
Waterbottles may be kept on student desks the entire day.
Lunch is at 12:06, I recommend eating a breakfast that fills your student up.
CHromebooks should come in charged and ready Wednesday September 11.

Back to school night this Tuesday!! I hope to see you there.

As we being the year, Ecclesiastes 3:1 keeps popping into my mind…

‘For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.’ The season to begin a new school year is here and it is exciting. I am thankful to have the privilege to work with your children. Thank you for sending them to Trinity.
