Almost the end of September, oh my! We are continuing to become acquainted with our classroom, teachers, classmates, and our daily routines. As we continue each week we are learning more and more, take a look!

Language Arts- We have started the first unit in our Journeys Language Arts book. Each day we open with identifying sounds, rhyming, and counting syllables. This week we will review letters Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, and Oo. Our topic for the week is families, how they are different, the same, near, far, and big or small. Our first super exciting sight word we are learning is “I”. We are also learning the importance of our first names and using an uppercase letter for the first letter and lowercase letters for the rest of our name (please make sure your child writes an uppercase letter ONLY as the first letter in his/her name, all the rest lowercase!).

Math- We will finish Chapter 1 this week, where we learned about numbers 0 to 5, and we will have our first test this Friday, September 27th. The children are enjoying this chapter as we use counter chips, cubes, and students as counters and manipulatives. I’m sure they will do great! 🙂

Jesus Time- We are diving into our One in Christ series, God Loves People.

On Tuesday we met our 5th grade buddies! Each student has been paired up with a child from the 5th grade to be their buddy! Throughout the year we will do activities, read alouds, and connect with our buddy. They also pick us up for Chapel each week and we get to sit right next to them! 🙂
