Happy October!

We are off to a fantastic start of the school year! Please remember to join Talking Points. Directions can be found in the Back to School Night Packet. Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday.

This week we will be focusing on the following topics:

ELA- This week in reading we will be focusing on Theme, as well as writing paragraphs. We will have an ELA test on Friday. Please be sure to check your child’s google classroom for this week’s spelling and vocabulary words. The sections for the test are as follows: comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and spelling. The comprehension section will be based on our shared text, The Bad Seed. We will also continue our first class read-aloud, Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate Dicamillo.

Math- This week we will begin chapter 2, focusing on Multiplication. Please be sure to practice fact fluency at home.

Social Studies- This week in S.S. we will continue our study of New York State, focusing on its resources.

Science- We will continue our first unit of science, Waves of Sound.

Religion- We will continue to work on the memorization of this years Bible verse, Ephesians 5:
8b-10, and explore sin and forgiveness. A memorization quiz will be on 10-5.

Please always reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is through talking points. I am looking forward to a fabulous year with this group of fantastic fourth graders.
