Dear Parents,

We had a very busy and fun week learning all about pumpkins.  The children were able to dissect a pumpkin and learn the different parts of a pumpkin.  They learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin and colored a life cycle pumpkin book that was sent home.  They made some cute pumpkin crafts that we used to decorate the upstairs wall, as well as our community wall downstairs.  We had so much fun baking pumpkin bread on Thursday.  If your child was not at school on Thursday, we sent home the recipe in your child’s folder.

This week we will be learning about the letter S for spider.  The children will learn how to recognize, sound out, and trace the letter S.  We will make a fun spider craft and continue making other spooky crafts to hang around our classroom.  We will continue working on our “mixing colors” book by showing the children how blue and yellow make green.

For centers, the children can play with bats made from bow tie tie pasta and orange painted rice.  The children can practice their counting skills by sorting the bats in containers.  We will add more spooky objects to our sensory bin this week.

During religion this week, we will learn about how Joseph forgives his brothers.
