Dear Parents,

Last week we learned the letter “C” for community and we learned all about community workers. Thank you to Mrs. Eeshwar for coming in to teach us about what doctors do. Also, a big thank you to the Hicksville Fire Department for coming to teach us about fire safety and letting us tour the fire truck. This week we will learn the letter “T” for thankful. The children will learn how to recognize, trace, and sound out the letter.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. This week we will learn about the holiday, what it means to be thankful, and we will complete our scholastic reader about how we can help during the holidays. We will work on two mini readers – “I am Thankful” and “Five Little Turkeys”. We will read books about being thankful and Thanksgiving.

Last week we worked on the color blue and learned how bule and yellow make green. This week we will learn about the color purple and we will finish up or “Mixing Primary Colors” book when we learn that mixing blue and red make purple. That book will come home next week. We will continue to review shapes and numbers by playing BINGO. During centers, the children will continue to practice tracing and cutting scrap paper to strengthen their cutting skills and they will continue to play with our fall sensory bin filled with leaves, acorns, and other fall items.

For religion we will continue to saying our Thank You God prayer and we will learn about the Fruit of the Spirit. We will combine a math and religion lesson by making a cornucopia with shapes that represent the Fruit of the Spirit.
