Dear Parents,

This past week we had a visit from the Dentist and we talked about good dental hygiene. We also started talking about Black History Month by reintroducing Martin Luther King, Jr. and making a “Choose Love Not Hate” craft. We learned all about the letter “X” and we started making our Valentine’s Day crafts. The kids have a special gift to give you on Friday.

The letter for this week will be “V” for Valentine. The children will learn to recognize, trace, and sound out the letter “V”.  We will learn about Louis Armstrong this week and what makes him an important figure in our history. The children will learn a verse of “What a Wonderful World”. We will also read a scholastic reader on Valentine’s Day and make a Valentine’s Day card. At the end of the week, we will talk about President’s Day (observed on February 17th) and learn about George Washington, the first President of the United States of America.

We have our Valentine’s Day party on Wednesday, February 12th. Please dress your child in either RED or PINK on Wednesday. Friday, February 14th is ECC RED day. Please dress your child in red on the 14th.

For religion, the children will learn how Jesus healed a paralyzed man. We will continue to learn our February prayer, “Thank you Lord for all my friends. Help us to be kind and to shine your light to others. Amen.”

All library books are due back on Thursday/Friday and new books will be borrowed on those days. Friday is the last day of school before break. We are off from Monday, February 17th to Friday, February 21st, for Winter Break. Classes will resume on Monday, February 24th. We wish you all a safe and healthy winter break.

Have a Blessed Day!
Miss Seleena and Miss Ava
