Hello Parents! Just like that, we have officially completed our first week of school!!! I am so excited for the year we have ahead. We are going to be doing some fun things so please continue to keep an eye out on our Classdojo!

We are continuing with theme 1 “Ready for school” and starting unit 2 titled “Making Friends”. BIG Idea: I will make friends at school. Knowledge Focus: Children learn the expectations, routines, and behaviors of school. Social-Emotional focus: cooperation. The theme vocabulary words include: friends, play and help. Math vocabulary words include: beside, on, in, under and between.

We will be learning the color yellow, square and number 2. We will be reading the books “Friends at School”,  “A Splendid Friend Indeed” and “Annie, Bea and Chi Chi Dolores”. We will also be reading the “Try Your Best!” Scholastic weekly reader this week. This focuses on following school rules and self-management. Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals.

For Jesus time, we will continue to sing the song “Jesus Loves Me” and continue to discuss creation, focusing on days 4 and 5. We will continue to recite our Johnny Appleseed prayer before snack, lunch and the remainder of September.

We will continue to discuss all things apples such as taking a deeper look inside an apple at our science table, watch apples decompose, plant apple seeds, discuss the three different color of apples, create another apple craft and bake an apple pie with one of our class parents! All of these fun activities will be displayed on our Classdojo. For the color yellow, we will be making a sunflower plate as our color craft and examine a sunflower head!
