Hello Parents and happy May! Hopefully we will start to see some consistent sunshine! Please pack your child accordingly! We will be going outside every chance we can get!

We are continuing with Theme 7 and starting unit 3 “Our Weather”. BIG Idea: The weather affects what I wear and do each day. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about their environment by investigating characteristics of the natural world. Social-Emotional Focus: Curiosity. The theme vocabulary words include: clouds, cloudy, rainy, sunny, weather and windy. Math vocabulary words include: measure, temperature and thermometer.

We will be reviewing the alphabet, focusing on beginning sounds, reviewing numbers 1-20, shapes and colors. We will begin learning sight words this week such as “A” and “I”. We will be reading the books “The Apple Pie Tree”, “What Will The Weather Be?”, “What Makes The Seasons?”, “Look, Listen and Learn” and “Weather”.

We will be introducing the life cycle of a butterfly this week & hope to receive our butterflies! We will be starting to create our Mother’s Day crafts and they will be sent home at the end of this week. Please keep an eye out on your child’s backpack for all of these special goodies! We will also be celebrating Cinco De Mayo on Monday by making noise makers and enjoying a festive snack! Lastly, we look forward to having a wonderful morning with our Special People this upcoming Wednesday! Please keep an eye on our ClassDojo for more upcoming events and important news.

For Jesus Time, Mrs. Maldonado will discuss the story of Timothy. We will continue to sing our Jesus time songs and pray before snack and lunch. For the month of May we will be learning a new prayer that goes as follows: “Thank you God for our food so good, help us do the things we should. Amen.” We will also continue practicing our graduation songs!
