Hello Parents! I hope you all had a fun and well-rested Spring break! Mrs. Maldonado and I can’t wait to hear all of the fun things you all did! To start off our week back, there seems to be some warmer weather on the horizon! Please pack your child accordingly. We will be going outside if we can! Time is flying by and before we know it, it will be Summer! The end of the year will come fast and so will all of our celebrations! Please keep a close eye out on our ClassDojo for all important dates and announcements.
Important Dates and Reminders –
- The Long Island Aquarium Field Trip will be this Wednesday, 4/10.
We are finishing Theme 6 “Growing Up Healthy” and starting our last unit 4 “Staying Safe”. BIG Idea: I know what to do to be safe. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about their bodies and how to take care of themselves. Social-Emotional Focus: Self-Awareness. The theme vocabulary words include: accident, caution, danger, emergency, harm, injury and safety. Math vocabulary words include: divide, equal and share.
We will be learning the letter Xx, continue to review numbers 1-20, shapes, colors and continue our weekly journal on Friday’s. We will also begin to learn to count by 10’s! We will be reading the books “Always Be Safe”, “How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?”, “Please Play Safe!” and “Science Tools!”.
On Monday, we will be discussing the Solar Eclipse and creating a fun craft to help explain what it is and why it happens! We will also be making a Greenhouse craft! The children will plant seeds and observe how they grow and learned about the life cycle of a plant. This is where those strawberry and berry containers come into place! In our sensory bin, there will be real dirt, artificial flowers and tools that will allow the children to “plant” their own flowers! Lastly, we will begin to work on our Mother’s Day crafts in preparation for the upcoming holiday.
For Jesus Time, Mrs. Maldonado will discuss the story of how Jesus heals a blind man with the children. We will continue to sing our Jesus time songs and pray before snack and lunch.
