Hello Parents! With the weather still changing day by day, please continue to send in a light jacket with your child. We will be going outside if the weather permits. Please also be sure to continue to complete the daily attestations each morning.
We are continuing theme 7 and starting unit 2 called “What’s in the Sky?”. BIG Idea: I see how the sky is different during the day and at night. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about their environment by investigating characteristics of the natural world. Social-Emotional focus: Curiosity. The theme vocabulary words include: lightening, stars, moon, sky, sun and thunderstorm. Math vocabulary words include: flip, rhombus, turn, slide and sphere.
We will finish the alphabet this week with out final letter, letter Zz and continue to review numbers 1-20, shapes and colors. We will be reading the books “Little Cloud” and “Mommy’s Little Star”.
We will be celebrating Earth Day on Friday, April 23rd. We will be making Dirt Cups as a class snack which consists of Oreo’s, chocolate pudding and gummy worms. We will also make an Earth Day wind-chime! Lastly, we will read the “I can Recycle!” Scholastic weekly reader.
We will continue to keep a close eye on our caterpillars and seeds we planted in our small pots. We will watch how both grow and change over time while talking about the different life cycle stages.
For Jesus time, we will be discussing Philip and the Ethiopian.
As a class craft, the children will be doing Z is for Zebra for their ABC book, various flower crafts and a butterfly symmetry craft. We will also get started on our Mother’s Day crafts.
