Hello Parents! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We are full steam ahead! The weather looks beautiful for this week so we will be going outside if we can! Please continue to pack the proper attire.

We will be starting Theme 7 “Nature All Around Us” and starting unit 1 “How Do Plants Grow”, BIG Idea: I can plant a seed and watch how it grows. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about their environment by investigating characteristics of the natural world. Social-Emotional Focus: Curiosity. The theme vocabulary words include: flower, petal, plant, roots, seeds, tree and vine. Math vocabulary words include: add and count.

We will be learning the letter Yy, continue to review numbers 1-20, shapes, colors and continue our weekly journal on Friday’s. We will also begin to learn to count by 10’s! We will be reading the books “Growing Vegetable Soup”, “What The Sun Sees/What The Moon Sees” and Counting In The Garden”.

We also will be making Greenhouses! The children will observe how the grass seeds grows and learn about the life cycle of a plant. We will also plant a “class plant” that each student will take turns taking care of for the day! This helps teach the children about responsibility and how to take care of something living and growing! In our sensory bin, there will be paper dirt, artificial flowers and tools that will allow the children to “plant” their own flowers! Lastly, we will continue to work on our Mother’s Day crafts in preparation for the upcoming holiday. We will also begin to sing our Graduation songs! Stay tuned for more details regarding our Graduation program.

For Jesus Time, Mrs. Maldonado will discuss the story of Peter and the Crippled Man with the children. We will continue to sing our Jesus time songs and pray before snack and lunch.
