Hello Parents! Unfortunately, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow which means 6 more weeks of Winter. However, there does still seem to be some warmer weather on the horizon this week! Hopefully we will be able to go outside and enjoy it. Please continue to pack the proper attire for your child if/when we go outside.
Important Announcement: We will be having our Valentine’s Day celebration on Tuesday, 2/14! A sign-up will be posted on our ClassDojo page asking for volunteers to bring in a special treat! Thank you all so much for supplying our class with materials/goodies throughout the school year.
We are continuing Theme 5 “Imagine It, Make It” and starting Unit 2 “Tools We Use”. BIG Idea: I can use tools to create and build. Knowledge Focus: Children learn how imagination and creativity shape our world. Social-Emotional Focus: Initiative. The theme vocabulary words include: bridge, build, ramp, tools and structure. Math vocabulary words include: next, pattern and repeats.
We will be learning the letter Qq, number 16 and continue to review shapes and colors. We will also with our weekly journal’s on Fridays. We will be reading the books “Science Tools”, “The Shape of Things” and “Alphabet Under Construction”. We will continue to learn about influential people of color to honor Black History Month. This week we are taking a closer look at Jackie Robinson’s life and impact he had on society. This week is also Dental Health Week. A local dentist, KiddSmiles will be joining us on Thursday to explain the importance of dental health. The children will receive a special gift they can take home from KidSmiles! We will also read a dental health Scholastic along with a tooth project!
We are finishing up our Valentine’s Day crafts this week as well. Keep an eye out on the mail, you will receive a special surprise!
For Jesus Time, Mrs. Gonzalez will discuss how Jesus blesses the children. We will sing the song “Follow Me”. We will also sing the song “Jesus Loves Me” in honor of Valentine’s Day and continue to sing “Love in a Box.”
