Hello Parents! I hope you all had a great weekend! I think our groundhog might have been wrong with his prediction. I am loving how warm it has been! Please continue to pack the proper attire for your child if/when we go outside.
Important Reminders:
- Our Valentine’s Day celebration will be held on Tuesday 2/14/22! Thank you to all who volunteered to bring in special goodies/treats for our class to celebrate.
- Winter Break will begin on 2/20/23 and we will return on 2/27/23.
We are continuing Theme 5 “Imagine It, Make It” and starting Unit 3 “Things We Build”. BIG Idea: I can use different materials to make new things. Knowledge Focus: Children learn how imagination and creativity shape our world. Social-Emotional Focus: Initiative. The theme vocabulary words include: construct, materials, invention and plan. Math vocabulary words include: flip, rotate, structure, taller and wider.
We will be learning the letter Rr, number 17 and continue to review shapes and colors. We will continue to recap our week in our weekly journal on Friday. We will be reading the books “The Three Little Pigs”, “White Rabbit’s Color Book”, “Buildings” and continue “Alphabet Under Construction”. We will continue to learn about influential people of color to honor Black History Month. This week we are taking a closer look at George Washington Carver’s life and the impact he had on society. In honor of President’s Day on 2/20/22 and since we won’t be in school, we will be discussing George Washington and Abe Lincoln. We will be creating a silhouette as a class craft of the children to replicate the Washington Monuments. We also will be replicating Abe Lincoln’s log cabin!
For Jesus Time, Mrs. Gonzalez will discuss how Jesus loves the children and ways we can see that in our everyday lives. We will also sing the song “Jesus Loves Me”, “Jesus is My Valentine” and “Love in a Box.”
