Hello Parents and hello November! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I am counting down the minutes!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween. I appreciate all of the goodies that were sent in for our class party/class snack.

We are finishing up the theme, “My Family” and the final unit called “All Kinds of Families.” BIG idea: Every family is unique. Knowledge focus: Children learn about family members, family roles, and unique qualities of families. Social-Emotional focus: Kindness. Vocabulary words for the week include: alike, special, different, tradition, respect and similar. Math vocabulary words include: group, pile, object and sort. Science words include: investigate, observe, smell and taste.

We will be learning the letter Ff, #8, color black and octagon. We will also practice sorting. We will be reading the books “You and Me Together”, “We Are All Alike/We Are All Different” and “Too Many Tamales”. Since Tuesday is election day and we are not in school, the children will read the Scholastic weekly reader book regarding the election. The students will be able to vote for snack on Monday in secret, similar to the actual election. We will also continue discussing the theme of Fall and taking a closer look at leaves and the colors they change into. We will do a seasonal craft with some colorful leaves we will find while outside.

For Jesus time, we will talk about Jacob and Joseph and how Jacob took care of Joseph. Throughout the month of November, we will discuss ways to be thankful for all that God has given/done for us. We will be learning a new thankful prayer for snack and lunch. The prayer goes as follows: “Thank you for the world so sweet. Thank you for the food we eat. Thank you for the birds that sing. Thank you God for everything. Amen.”

Specials:

I will be putting together an online class book in order to get to know our classmates a little better! Please include any pictures you would like to include. I have received quite a few already and will be publishing the book next week. 1. Who is in your family?
  2. What do you do for fun at home?
  3. What do you want to be when you grow up?
  4. What is your favorite color?
