Hello Parents! I hope you all enjoyed this wonderful weekend! With the weather being so back and forth, we kindly ask you to keep your child at home if they are not feeling well. We are at that time where colds are coming in full force and we are doing everything we can to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible! Also, please continue to pack the appropriate clothing for the playground outside. Lastly, keep a close eye out on our Classdojo this week for more information regarding our Halloween celebration!

Important Dates & Announcements:

  • Trunk or Treat – Saturday, October 26th
  • Orange Party – October 30th
  • Staff Professional Development Day – NO SCHOOL November 1st

We are continuing with the theme “My Family” and starting unit 3 titled “Family Fun”. BIG Idea: I share special times with my family. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about family members, family roles, and the unique qualities of families. Social-Emotional Focus: Kindness. The theme vocabulary words include: celebrate, holiday, relatives, thankful and together. Math vocabulary words include: fewer, greater, less and more.

We will be learning the letter Ee, color black, oval and number 7. We will be reading the books “Celebrations!”, “What Mommies Do Best”, “What Daddies Do Best” and “Feast for 10”. We will also be reading “The Real Busy Spiders” Scholastic weekly reader. In the afternoon, we will be creating a Haunted House craft using various shapes such as rectangles, triangles and squares. Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals.

We will continue talking about pumpkins this week and introduce spiders! We will discuss how they have 8 legs, 8 eyes and 2 body parts and create a spider headband as a craft. We will be opening a pumpkin and using our 5 senses to explore the different parts of a pumpkin. Lastly, we will read the “Pumpkin Jack” book and watch our pumpkin decompose in a container. We will finish up any crafts from previous weeks and hang them on our community wall. I will post pictures on our Classdojo so all can see what a great job the children have done! In our sensory bin, there will be orange colored rice, tweezers, spiders, bats, eyeballs and other Halloween themed manipulatives. The students will have to use their fine motor skills to squeeze the tweezers and take out each object.

For music and movement, we will continue to sing our “5 Little Pumpkins” song, dance to our Skeleton dance using GoNoodle.com and listen to our “Spooky Walk” song were the children have to listen to the directions and act out what is going on using their imagination.

For Jesus time, we will continue to sing our various songs, continue to discuss the story of Jacob and Rachel and their blessed baby, and add on how Jacob takes care of Joseph. We will also continue to recite our new snack/lunch time prayer.
