Hello Parents! It is officially Spooky Season!!! I love this time of year because the leaves start to fall and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Our classroom is almost all fall related and I can’t wait to see how the children react! Keep an eye out on our Classdojo for pictures!

Important Reminder – Monday 10/2 is picture day! Please dress to impress!! If you still need to register, you can do so online. The link was posted to our Classdojo.

We are finishing up with theme 1 “Ready for School” and starting unit 4 titled “Getting Along”. BIG Idea: I know how to share, and I care about the feelings of others. Knowledge Focus: Children learn the expectations, routines, and behaviors of school. Social-Emotional focus: cooperation. The theme vocabulary words include: cooperate, share and turns. Math vocabulary words include: less, more and same.

We will be learning the letter Bb, color pink, triangle and number 4. We will be reading the books “The Little Red Hen” and another story similar to compare the two, “How Many Can Play?” and “My Friends”. In the afternoon, we will be completing a spider web craft that will hang where the children walk in! To go alongside the theme of this week, we will be creating a “Muddy Pig” craft! This will allow the children to use their hands and spread out “mud” which consists of brown paint and oats! Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals.

For Jesus time, we will begin to discuss the story of Abraham. We will start a new snack and lunch time prayer which is “God is good. God is great and we thank him for our food”. We will continue to recite this for the next upcoming months.

We will start discussing farm animals this week and pumpkins! We will take a deeper look at pumpkins such as how they decompose, how heavy they are and what they look/feel like on our science table. In our sensory bin, we will be using dirt, colored paper and farm animal toys to play with! More farm animal and October/pumpkin crafts will soon be displayed on Classdojo.

We will be asking for a parent volunteer to come into our classroom this Wednesday, 10/4, to help bake pumpkin bread with us! In our Little Hen story, the little hen bakes bread and spreads jelly over it! I thought it would be a great idea to have someone help us bake, just like little hen! I will be posting more details on our class dojo tonight.
