Hello Parents! I hope you all had a great weekend. I am lovingggg how nice it has been outside for this time of the year. I am praying it stays that way for a little while longer! I just wanted to say thank you all so much for supporting our classroom. From having parent volunteers to volunteering to bring in class items that support our classroom is the biggest help. The support from home is such a blessing.

Important Reminder: All field trip permission slips are due back Monday, October 17th. An adult is required to accompany their child to and from the trip as well as stay throughout the trip. Also, there will be no school Friday, October 21st due to a staff professional development day.

We are continuing with the theme “My Family” and beginning unit 2 titled “We Take Care of Each Other”. BIG Idea: I love my family and they love me. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about family members, family roles, and unique qualities of families. Social-Emotional Focus: kindness. The theme vocabulary words include: cousins, caring, feelings and love. Math vocabulary words include: length, longer, longest, shorter and shortest.

We will be learning the letter Dd, color black, hexagon and number 6. We will be reading the books “Mama Zooms”, “Too Many Tamales” and “My Day From A-Z”. We will also be reading “The Real Busy Spiders” Scholastic weekly reader.  In the afternoon, we will continue to complete a fall booklet that focuses on developing listening comprehension skills. Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals.

We will continue talking about pumpkins this week and introduce spiders! We will discuss how they have 8 legs, 8 eyes and 2 body parts and create a spider headband as a craft. We will also finish up our bat craft from the previous week as well any any other theme crafts for this month. We will cut open a pumpkin and talk about what it looks/feels like and so much more on our science table. More crafts will be displayed on our ClassDojo. In our sensory bin, we will be using orange rice and fake spiders/webs to create a spiders habitat! The children will use their fine motor skills by holding a tweezer to “rescue” the spider.

For music and movement, we will be continue to sing our “5 Little Pumpkins” song, dance to our Skeleton dance using GoNoodle.com and listen to our “Spooky Walk” song where the children have to listen to the directions and act out what is going on using their imagination.

For Jesus time, we will continue to sing the song “Jesus Loves Me” and continue to discuss the story of Jacob and Rachel and how God blessed them with a baby. We will also continue to recite our new snack/lunch time prayer.
