Hello Parents! I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed having Monday off as well. Even though we had off from school, Monday was a special day to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. legacy and the impact he had on society. His teachings continue to shape the world we live in today. Please take a moment to discuss the importance of his life.

We are going to continue following the Big Day curriculum book and the theme “Awesome Animals!” and starting the third unit which is called “Creepy, Crawly Insects”. BIG Idea: I am very curious about bugs. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about life science through the exploration of animals and animal life cycles. Social-Emotional focus: Attention. The theme vocabulary words include: bug, crawl, insect, pinch, stinger, stings, swarm and wings. Math vocabulary words include row, grid and column.

We will be learning the letter Oo and #17. We will be reading the books “Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!”, “Over in the Meadow” and “What Do Insects Do?” We will read the “We Are All Different!”  Scholastic Weekly reader book. We will also practice grouping items based on color, shape and size.

For Jesus time, we will be learning about Jesus choosing his 12 disciples.

As a class craft, the children will be doing O is for Octopus using the letter O for the body and 8 folded construction paper tentacles for their ABC book. We will also be doing snowman craft in which students will construct their own snowman and decorate it as they see fit.
