In between all of our Christmas projects and activities, the students continue to work hard on their academic subjects.  We are finishing several units in different subject areas so there will be several tests before the Christmas vacation so that we will begin a fresh start in 2014!

Week of: December 9-13

Spelling: meant, build, flood, laugh, breakfast, enough, sweater, rough, bread, touch, spread, tough, already, built, ready, death, young, instead, heavy, ahead

Vocabulary:  earnest, haste, nourish, ration

Writing Journal Assignment:  You have invited the Sanders Family over for Christmas Day!  Write about how you would prepare your home and what activities we would do together.  Include details about all of your plans.  Your assignment should be two well-organized paragraphs of at least 5 sentences in each.

Math: standard algorithm and distributive property in multiplication

Science: Hurricanes, graphic organizer

Social Studies: Test on Chapter 3

Reading: Ongoing free reading in class, reading notebook, conferencing

Language Arts:  Test on Possessive nouns

Religion: daily devotions; Christmas story

Tests:

  • Wednesday – Social Studies, Chapter 3
  • Thursday – Language Arts; Memory Quiz
  • Friday – Spelling

Important News:

  • Secret Santa gifts are due on Wednesday, 12/11.  Remind students to bring the wrapped gifts in labeled with the recipient’s name and keep them in their backpacks upon arrival.
  • We will have several rehearsals over the next few days in preparation for next week’s Christmas show.
