“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

~Jeremiah 29:11

Hello from the Athletic Department!

The theme for athletics this year is “New Beginnings”. We are very excited about the many changes that have been made in athletics.

Our soccer program has been restructured and grown with great success. This season we have a Girls 6/7/8 soccer team instead of a co-ed squad. We also started a 5/6 Boys team in an attempt at developing a 6/7/8 Boys team for next season. We were also able to enhance the co-operative athletic effort with Lu Hi to include Boys soccer for 7th & 8th graders. In total we have 36 students playing soccer from T.L.S.

Football has grown as well. This season we have ten boys playing for Lu Hi, which made up half the roster.  Our volleyball team continues to be one of the school’s strongest programs. The experience and enthusiasm of these young athletes makes the future for all of teams look very promising.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the athletes for their participation and effort, but especially thank the coaches for all of their tireless efforts in making the experience very positive and fun for the athletes.

For any athletes looking to purchase a sweatshirt for their fall sport, they can be ordered on line through the school website: trinityli.org and then clicking on Trinity Apparel. Please note that the fall sports apparel will only be available until November 30th.  Starting December 1st, Basketball apparel will be available for purchase.

As the winter season approaches, I want to let you know that our basketball program is also being restructured. We will no longer have two middle school teams. This season there will be a boys 5/6 & girls 5/6 team along with boys 7/8 & girls 7/8 squad. I will be calling them Jr. Varsity & Varsity teams. It is my belief that growth and development are essential to a successful program. I have also received interest in starting up a Dance team. Mrs. Simone and I were able to make this happen. The dance team will perform at home basketball games only.

With that said, I am going to need financial assistance for the purchase of new uniforms for our basketball teams and our newly created dance team. I have gotten a quote for all uniforms in excess of $4,000. Through donations and recycling efforts from last year to present I raised more than half of the funds, but more is needed, so I am asking for your help in making our athletes look as good as they play! All donations may be sent to the TLS Athletics Fund.

Thank you for your support.

James Sweeney, Athletic Director
