A “Wintry Mix” in the Art Room . . .

Our recent blizzard and COLD wintery weather are the perfect inspiration for many of the fun projects our students are creating in the art room. Here are a few highlights of  our current creations:

  • Fourth Grade   ~  Snowmen with Personality Collage
  • Kindergarten    ~    How Artists See the Weather/Winter Drawing
  • ECC Four Year-Olds   ~  A Scene from E.J. Keats,  A Snowy Day
  • Third Grade   ~  Winter Snow Globes
  • First Grade   ~  Designer Mittens/ Creating Color Patterns

Want to find out what your child is working on in his/her art class? Go onto Trinity’s website and click on Mrs. Kerwin’s class notes. Here you will find new projects, important information, as well as student reminders to help your child be well-prepared for art.

** Entry forms for the K-12 Martin Luther King Jr. Poster Art Contest may be found outside the art room door. Check out the website www.scholastic.com/MLKDAY for details. The deadline for all entries is February 28, 2014. This contest is not mandatory, but all our students are encouraged to enter. Good luck to all!

I hope you continue to enjoy viewing our students’ artwork displayed throughout the hallways.

Keep Creating!

MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. DAY is next Monday, January 20. School will be closed in recognition of this very important man in our history.

OPEN HO– USE last Saturday was most successful. Many fine families with children eager to attend our school toured our facilities. Please continue to tell friends and neighbors about all the great reasons to send their children to Trinity. And, remember the incentive of $250.00 for you for any successful enrollee. We thank all teachers and staff for making our school so welcoming to our visitors with their current classroom and hallway displays. Your efforts were most appreciated.

RE-REGISTRATION for the 2014-2015 school year is in full swing. We thank all our families who have taken advantage of the discounted price of early registration at $150.00, with a deadline of February 1st. We ask our current families to re-register early to help us in planning our enrollment for the next school year. Siblings of students already enrolled at Trinity must fill out the “New Student” application and be tested. Prospective kindergartners will be screened by appointment.

IMPORTANT LUNCH MENU INFORMATION! – Our attempt to establish a pre-pay lunch system the month of January was not as successful as we had wanted it to be, and, therefore, we are going back to the previous way of “order then pay”. The February menu will be going home this week and be expected to be turned in by January 24th. Payment will be required the day of purchase as before.  Parents will be required to sign the menu which will possibly prevent earlier problems of students circling menu choices and then not purchasing the food items, costing Trinity money. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve the lunch ordering process.

NYSSMA auditions are once again upon us. Mrs. Pollitt and Mr. DeVries will be helping our students with enrolling. PIANO  solo registration forms are available through Mr. DeVries now. Registration forms and payment are due January 17.

KINDERGARTEN IN-SCHOOL FIELD TRIP – Last Friday, January 10th, the Nature Company visited our kindergarten classes with a myriad of live animals in cages, accompanied by a stuffed animal puppet giving a short presentation. This event, enjoyed by all, was sponsored by our very generous PTFA .

EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER – Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held by appointment on Friday, January 24. There will be NO school  for ECC this day.
