Our school is participating in the St. Jude Math-A-Thon, and the third grade has volunteered to serve as our event coordinators. This program is very special to all of us at our school because it teaches our students how they can make a difference in the life of another child just by doing math. Please show your support for our school and the kids of St. Jude. I In order to participate, please return the permission slip by Monday, April 27.   Thank you!

We will try to reschedule this important workshop for another date at the beginning of next school year. Thank you for your commitment to your child’s education in and out of the classroom.

Textbook forms for next year have gone home last week.  Please sign them and return to Mrs. De Gennaro by Monday, April 27.  If I don’t receive the form back, I will be unable to order books next year for your children.

If your child will be absent, please call our attendance line to report the absence.  Upon the child’s return, we do require an absent note to be sent into the office.  The attendance line is 931-2211 Option #8.

NEWS FROM THE PTFA

Greetings –

I hope everyone is well and rested after Easter break. I can’t believe it’s already the middle of April and we only have a couple more months of school left. The 2014-2015 school year has flown by. Thankfully, the PTFA was able to host some great events and raise money for our children and our school. Applebee’s was a great success raising $2,415 which went to purchasing 2 water refilling stations as part of the school’s go green initiative. The Wine and Cheese Paint party raised $623 which will be used to purchase room darkening shades for a few classrooms. In addition, Yankee Candle, Santa Shop, Kidstuff Coupon Book, and Miss Chocolate Cookie Dough raised over $7,700. We also raised $883 in scholastic dollars from our Scholastic Book Sale. All that is possible because of the dedication parents and teachers have to our children and our school.

The PTFA has a few events planned for the remainder of the school year. We need your help to make them a success, whether its attending the events or volunteering your time. You can make a difference. Please let me know if you would like to help in anyway.

The upcoming events are:

  • May 8, 2015: Dance-A-Thon 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the Gym. Kids will dance off, have fun and enjoy a snack. A fun way to spend the afternoon. $3 per person. Proceeds will go to the Athletics Department
  • May 9, 2015: Mother’s Day Paint Party Brunch 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Youth Senior Room (30 people max). Children can bring their Special Person with whom they would like to celebrate Mother’s Day and enjoy delicious appetizers while painting their own masterpiece. $15 per person. Proceeds will go to an End of Year Surprise for the kids from the PTFA.

The next PTFA meeting is May 28, 2015 at 7:30pm (Location TBD). We will be seeking nominations for the 2015-2016 School Year PTFA Board (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary). If you are interested in being a part of the board, please contact me.

Together we can make the PTFA great. Together we can accomplish great things for our children and our school. The key word is TOGETHER!

Have a blessed day.
