Spring has Sprung!

I am sure that so many of you can share that sentiment as we had such a harsh winter in the northeast. Here at Trinity Lutheran School winter proved to be a rousing success for our sports teams. As I previously mentioned in the Trinity Times, our basketball program had been restructured. Instead of two middle school teams for boys and girls we had two J.V. squads, made up of 5th & 6th graders, and two Varsity teams of 7th & 8th graders. It proved to be a tremendous success as all teams finished with winning records, giving us great hope for sustained success going forward.

Our varsity teams also competed in the L.I.A.A.I.S. tournaments. Our boys won all of their games enroute to a league championship while our girls played very competitively and finished in third place. We also took the varsity teams to Albany for the Lutheran Schools Invitational. Trinity was very well represented as the girls won each of their contests and the boys lost a close game to the Chapel School, and bested the host school, Our Savior, in a hard fought battle.

Our J.V teams had very successful seasons, which was quite an accomplishment for an inaugural effort. Our boys did not lose a game while our girls played very strong and grew as a unit. What was most satisfying for me was that our J.V. boys and girls basically made up the Bantam teams for our Church league play and they played in their respective championship games.

And, I would be incredibly remiss if I did not mention Trinity’s greatest success this winter. Our newly created Dance team breathed a new spirit in our gym this past season. Our girls, led by Ms. Hansen, practiced very hard and performed spectacularly.

With all of the changes that occurred this winter I would like to continue on this theme of “change is good”. This year I would like to invite all our athletes and their families to celebrate their efforts and successes in a newly formatted awards presentation. This year’s Sports Awards will be held on Saturday, June 7th at 9:00 AM, “Breakfast with Champions”. There will be a fully catered breakfast while we honor our athletes and coaches for all they have done for Trinity Lutheran School. Please look for the invitation coming home in the school mail soon.
