Last week we enjoyed some fun gingerbread themed activities and we discussed the season of Advent and it’s gift of hope

This week we will enjoy discovering Christmas traditions.  We will be like little elves as we create many beautiful holiday decorations to deck the halls of our Early Childhood Center.  We will count elves as we sing the fingerplay, “Five Little Elves” and dance like elves to the “Gingerbread Man Dance and Freeze.”  We will celebrate St. Nicholas Day (the original Santa Claus) on Wednesday with pajamas, cookies and a short holiday movie.

This week, we light the second candle on our Advent wreath, the candle of peace.  This candle reminds us of the gift of peace that Christmas brings.  It reminds us of that peaceful night when Jesus was born in Bethlehem.  We will learn about the Holy Family and sing the Christmas carol, “Silent Night.”  We will also discuss and observe the differences between night and day.

This week we celebrate the season with spirit week!  Please dress each day according to the theme if you want to participate…
