Last week we discovered the season of winter and we noticed it’s chilly changes going on in the world around us.  This week, we will learn about the clothing you need to wear in order to stay warm in the cold weather.  We will discuss the science behind how certain clothes keep us warm and learn the difference between the opposites, “Hot” and “Cold.”  We will also play the mitten match game and dance to “The Mitten Hokey Pokey.”  Our daily story time will include the classic tales retold by the children’s book author, Jan Brett, “The Hat” and “The Mitten.”  We will have fake snow dough to explore with our hands and we will learn to identity the basic shapes as we create snowflakes from the geometric shapes, among other winter inspired activities this week.

Jesus said that He is the light of the world.  The light of Christ shines on us and through us, and His love warms us.  This week, we learn how God provides for His people.  He gives us warm food and warm clothing to keep us safe.  We will praise God for all of His goodness through the song, “This Little Light of Mine.”

It should be a chilly looking, but fun week in our classroom!
