This week, we will learn about the habitats of animals.  We will discover more about the life of bears and hibernation, about narwhals and their icy ocean habitat and about the frozen arctic habitat and the animals who live there.  Our “Animals Homes” unit will have us learning more about hibernation, constructing our own bear caves, creating narwhal inspired art and using our imagination to write about what our experience would be if we were a bear in the winter.  Our block center will have a STEM challenge this week:  Construct a bear cave that can stand for more than 30 seconds, while at least one student is inside, using pillows, blankets, sheets and other found materials from the classroom.
In conjunction with the animal habitats theme, we will learn about letter Nn and the number twelve as well.  Our Voyages religion lesson this week is, “Little Boy Jesus.”  We will also learn about the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Please remember to send in a helmet for your child to wear.  We will be riding tricycles in the gym for the next month.
