Second Grade Notes Week of October 26th

I hope everyone is enjoying Fall and the cooler weather!  I know there are many exciting activities coming up.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Lets Go Mets!

Curriculum:

Math:  We are in the midst of Chapter 3 working hard on our addition and subtraction facts.  We are studying how addition and subtraction facts are related.

Reading:  Our story this week is Animals Building Homes.  We will focus on the story vocabulary as well as the skill of Using Graphics to help us understand the text.

Phonics and Spelling:  We will focus on words with common final consonant blends.

Grammar:  We will review nouns and continue our study of Plural Nouns.

Science:  We continue to talk about plants and how they adapt to their environment.

Social Studies:  We will discuss how people help communities.  There will be a Social Studies Unit 1 Test Tuesday, November 3rd.

Important Reminders:

  • If you have not yet sent in your class party money please do so as soon as you can.
  • We will have our Pumpkin Party in the classroom this Friday afternoon.
  • Spirit Week:  Tuesday- Pajama Day, Wednesday – Dress your best, Friday- Sports Team Day
  • Please send in your baby item for the New Life Center at Lutheran Social Services.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up shortly on November 10th.  Please look for a sign up shortly.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you then.
