Second Grade Notes

Week of November 10th – 14th

I hope that you all are having a great week and enjoyed the day off yesterday.

Here is a look at what we are working on this week:

Math:  We are starting Chapter 4.  We will be concentrating on using different strategies for adding two digit addends.  The children did great on the Chapter 3 Test.

Reading:  We started the story How Chipmunk Got His Stripes today.  The children seemed to enjoy the story.  Our Target skills will be Understanding Characters and Author’s Word Choice.  We will also start to Summarize.

Phonics/Spelling:  We will focus on Base Words and the endings -ed and -ing.  All of our spelling words will follow this pattern as well.

Grammar:  We will focus on verbs in the Present tense.

**Please Remember that our tests for Lesson 9 will all be on Tuesday, November 18th.**  Please refer to the note that was sent home on Monday for the Reading schedule.

Science:  We will complete our study of plants and Chapter 1.  We will have a Chapter 1 Science Test on Wednesday, November 19th.

Social Studies:  We will work on a Community activity about where we live, learn, and play.

There are no test for the remainder of the week.
