We are off to a great start this year. We are so happy to see so many returning faces, and excited to get to know all of our new students. Last week we spent a lot of time reviewing the rules for school, as well as school safety. We also reviewed the color red, the number one, and circles.
This week we will continue with review, focusing on the number two, the color yellow, and squares. We will also continue to review school safety and rules for school. We will color the yellow page in our new Handwriting Without Tears workbook. We will also continue our apple unit, this week focusing on yellow apples. Please send in a yellow apple by Friday so that we can make crunchy apple toast for snack. This week we will also learn about Johnny Appleseed, and hopefully he will stop by for a visit!
Some books that we will read include The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall, I am an Apple by Jean Marcello, and A Letter to Amy by Ezra Jack Keats.
For Jesus time we will start Creation. We will be making a Creation book, and this week we will work on pages for Day and Night, Sky and Water, and Seeds and Flowers.
We will visit art class again this week and start working on our Monet projects. In class we will be making paper plate apples and painting 3 shades of yellow at the easel.
For math, we will start making a bar graph for which apples everyone liked the best.
Please remember our pumpkin farm trip will be Wednesday October 5 at 10:00 am at Green Meadow Farms. Permission slips will be going home in the backpacks on Monday.
Parent night will be Tuesday October 4 and our theme for the night is “A Day in the Life of Your Preschooler”. More information will follow, but be sure to mark your calendar for an informative and fun evening.
Also a reminder that sometimes in can be a little chilly in the classrooms as we work to resolve the air conditioner issues. Please keep a small sweater in your child’s backpack for their comfort. You may also include a small stuffed toy for rest time.
As you pick up and drop off, be sure to check our boards outside the classroom for our day to day schedule, and any announcements or information we may have for you.
Have a blessed week!
