Jesus’ Time – An angel came to Mary and said to wait-your baby is coming-Jesus, God’s Son. Puppets, movies, and books tell the story.
Math-Using the symbols of Christmas the children are reviewing all their numbers, shapes, and colors. (Numbers 1-10)

CHRISTMAS
Language Arts– Learning and using the words of the season – ADVENT, STARS,
CHRISTMAS, ST. NICHOLAS , STABLE
Social Studies – Celebrating St. Nicholas Day (December 6) the patron saint of
Turkey and how he came to be Santa Claus. The students will
view the video, THE BOY WHO WOULD BE SANTA.
Science – December until 12/21 is still in the season of Fall but we wear winter
coats, winter clothes, and mittens as we prepare for snow, cold, and
winter.
Art/Projects – Santa and Reindeer Puppets but most of all as we prepare our
“Christmas Secrets”.
Gross Motor Play – As the days grow colder we spend fewer and fewer hours out-
doors. Instead we play ball and use hula hoops in our gym
as well as practice our skipping and galloping.
Literature – As we prepare and wait we listen to the poetry and imagery in
Clement Moore’s TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
Taking it then another step – we use many different publications of it-
showing the different artistry used over the century.
Music – As we prepare and wait – the children are learning the music of Christmas
based on our theme, “Kids Need a Stable Background” –words and melody
praising the Christ Child, Jesus.
Reading – As we wait and prepare – we read, read, and read some more and in doing
we read pictures, develop sequences, and interpret the imagery of words.
