SOCIAL STUDIES:
It was fun learning about our parent’s jobs and sharing them with the class. Books-WORKERS IN OUR COMMUNITY.
SCIENCE: ICE
Does salt affect Ice? What does Ice weigh?
We are forming hypotheses (guesses) and then testing them out. (experiments)
WEEKLY READER–“ICE” Book: I AM SNOW
LITERATURE – Folk Tales
- THE MITTEN (Ukranian tale) We will use the Tresselt version and the Brett version and then compare them.
- PETER AND THE WOLF (Russian Tale) We will use a summer then a winter version of the story; followed by the Walt Disney video.
MUSIC: Instruments of the Orchestra
Using the folk tale of Peter and the wolf, we will learn about the main parts of the orchestra: Brass, Percussion, Strings, and Woodwinds. We will then match them up with the characters of the story.
ART: Creation of our own personal snowman, stainglass mittens, We will view the video of the Snowman and drink snowman soup.
PE: Riding the tricycles has been so much fun-we’ve even been learning how to stay on the road.
Our Centers have included:
Smart table, community puzzles, snowman floor puzzles, Housekeeping, building blocks and our all time favorite-Legos.
