Physical Education:

Welcome to Ms. Plank’s Physical Education class! All students must be dressed appropriately for safe participation in Physical Education activities.  Athletic sneakers with laces that can be tied or velcro closures are required for participation.   Sneakers should not have heels, roller wheels, open-backs nor open-toes. During our first class together, the students learned the ground rules of Physical Education class:

  • Follow directions
  • Use equipment properly
  • Stop all activity when whistle blows
  • Be courteous when others are talking
  • Stay together and behind P.E. Teacher when traveling
  • Cooperate with others
  • Always do your BEST!

    Student’s grade is based on:

  • Preparation   30%
  • Participation  30%
  • In-class assessments* 40%

    Requests made by parent/guardian to excuse their child from Physical Education class must be made in writing for each occurrence and given to the teacher prior to class starting.  Excuses of this nature are limited to two (2) consecutive class periods after which time a Physician’s note is required.  If under doctor’s care please send original note from the doctor stating specifics (what the injury or illness is, the activities the student can and can’t do and length of time the student is to be excused).

Health:

Welcome to Ms. Plank’s 7th Grade Health class! During our first class together, the students learned the ground rules of Health class:

  • No put-downs
  • Class discussions are confidential
  • Listen when others are speaking
  • All questions are good questions, but please keep them respectful
  • Be honest and fair in your judgements

    Student’s grade is based on:

  • Journal Reflections
    • On Google Classroom
  • Projects
  • Participation

There will also be a research paper.  The research paper will be introduced and explained in English class.  It will be on a health topic.  Mrs. Saitta will be grading the papers in regards to structure, grammar, research, etc and I will be grading the papers in regard to content accuracy. Some themes and units taught this year will be:  Emotions and Behaviors, Communication, Decision Making and Problem Solving, Alcohol and Tobacco, Stress Management, Social and Anti-Social Behaviors, Injury Prevention, Physical Activity and Nutrition, Environment, and Growth and Development*. *Any starred topics will include a notice home regarding specifics discussed in that unit.
