Last week we celebrated “Read Across America” week and the life and work of Dr. Seuss.  This week we return to our Mother Goose Time curriculum to complete a unit of study on the rainforest.  This week we will explore the emergent layer of the rainforest.  The emergent layer is made up of treetops that reach higher than the canopy. Giant trees, small birds and butterflies live in this layer.  We will learn more about the blue morpho butterflies, kapok trees, hummingbirds, mangoes and strangler fig trees which live in this layer.  We will review letters – Jj, Mm and Dd and the concepts – green, hexagon and resourceful as well.  Please remember that school is closed this Friday for professional development.
