This week in the nursery classes we are:

Celebrating Dr. Seuss’  birthday, which is on Wednesday, 3/2/16. We read Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss and the children loved discovering the rhyming words in the story.

Art Projects: Do -a- dot letter L, L is for lion hand-print, March- In like a lion and out like a lamb.

Language Arts: We are discussing the characters and setting of the stories we read in class. We are also learning about the author and illustrator of a book and what they do. Alphabet Chart- letter recognition and memory. Some of the stories we are reading : The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss, Five Little Sharks Swimming in the Sea by Steve Metzger,  Ten Little Fish by Audrey and Bruce Wood,  Five Little Piggies by David Martin and 1-2-3 Va-Va-Vroom by Sarah Lynn.

Science: We are growing seeds for a special St. Patrick’s Day project. We are learning that seeds need water, air, dirt and sunlight to grow!

Math: We are learning  about patterns and we are counting shamrocks and our friends. We have begun our number unit and we are working on a number book to help with number recognition. Ask your student what zero  means!

Jesus Time: We are sing our Jesus songs, praying for our sick friends and learning about Noah’s Ark, Jesus and his disciples and that Jesus loves us.

Reminders:

  • Re-registration is now taking place. Please hand in your form to your child’s teacher so a spot is secured for him/her for the next school year. Please see Mrs. B. Krass if you have any questions or need another form. Classes are filling up quickly!
  • On March 21 and 22nd the ECC will be participating in an LSA Egg Relay. The children will have fun participating in a relay race with plastic Easter eggs. This is a fun event and all are welcome to watch! More details to follow.
  • Please return all candy money to your child’s teacher. The candy sale has now ended. We send out a big THANK YOU to all who helped with this fundraiser!
  • On April 14th and 15th the nursery and Pre-K classes will be presenting a Mini-Olympics for families and friends. Please mark your calendars. More information to follow!
