Welcome back from winter recess! Hope you all had a restful week off from school.
This is a busy week for our nursery students. Dr Attias, a pediatric dentist and his hygienist, Christine, came to Trinity to speak with our nursery students about tooth health. All the children learned the correct way to brush teeth and practiced on a stuffed horse with BIG teeth. Each student received a goody bag with stickers and a new tooth brush. Thank you Dr. Attias and Christine! We enjoy your annual February visit to Trinity’s ECC. February is Dental Health Month.
In class we are:
Science: Discussing healthy vs. unhealthy foods for our teeth. We are attaching pictures of healthy foods to a nice clean white tooth and putting pictures of unhealthy foods on a tooth with a cavity. We are also doing an experiment with an egg. The shell of an egg is similar to a tooth- hard and white. We are putting a hard boiled egg in a glass of coke and predicting what will happen to the egg. We are also putting a hard boiled egg in a glass of water to see if the water affects the egg.
We are also checking on the growth of our red amaryllis. We are making sure it has plenty of sunlight and water to continue growing in the dirt and air.
Language Arts: A Visit to the Dentist by Eleanor Fremont, Hooray for Teeth by Gina Shaw, and Curious George Goes to the Dentist by Margaret and H.A. Reys. Alphbet center- recognition of the letters and sounds, memory.
Jesus Time: Lent- A time of forgiveness, Jesus on a donkey, Chapel on Tuesday and Wednesday. Look around Jerusalem for the days of Lent – activity with stickers.
Movement to Music: Walking to the ABCs, Opposite song, Bean Bag Song and Pizza Hut Song. We are also practicing our songs for the circus.
Math: Find the Shape, count and color, count the hearts and our friends and snowflake match.

The circus program for all nursery students will be on Thursday, March 19th. Please mark your calendars for this fun event. Please see sign up sheets outside the nursery classroom.
Nursery students will have homework do to over the weekend. It is a color and cut activity. Please put all the pieces in a small plastic bag marked with your child’s name. Return on Monday.
