This week in the nursery classes we are:
Starting our shape unit! Please be sure to check out our nursery wall for our shape art featuring circles, triangles, squares and rectangles! We are using our observation skills by finding circles in our classroom.
Other art projects: Circle snowman, stamping different sized circles, snowman head. We will begin making a shape book that we will be able to take home to review our shapes.
Language Arts: What Snowmen Do at Night by Carolyn Baehnert and Mark Buehner, The Littlest Snowman Ever by Steven Knoll and Round and Round and Round by Tara Hoban. Alphabet center-we are working on recognizing the letters of the alphabet and the sounds associated with the letters. We are learning a poem about a snowman.
Jesus Time: Chapel with Pastor Dwyer, Epiphany – Wise men visit baby Jesus.
Math: Counting snowflakes and sequencing a snowy day.
Movement to Music: Walking to the ABCs, Around in a Circle, Seasons Song, Freeze and Melt and Building a Snowman.
Science: Seasons, signs of winter, magnets.
Gross Motor Skills: We are riding the tricycles in the gym!
Technology: SMART table and computer lab( for full day students).
This month we will be scheduling parent /teacher conferences. Please see the sign up sheet posted outside the classroom or speak with your child’s teacher.
