I hope everyone had a fantastic and blessed Thanksgiving! I can’t believe it is already the first week of Advent!!

Joke of the week: I taught a parrot to recognize shapes…

Language Arts- This week we will recap with the last lesson in Unit 2 of our Journeys Curriculum. Our essential question is, What can we create with shapes? We will read David’s Drawings, Mouse Shapes, and Signs and Shapes. As we read the stories we will focus on reading with expression, word choice, understanding characters, and summarizing. We will recap our sight words – see, we, a, to; and our letter sounds of /m/, /s/, /a/, /t/, /k/, and /p/. In grammar, we will continue to learn about adjectives to describe things, and this week we will use size and shapes to describe items. Lastly, in writing we will use descriptive words to describe things.

Language Arts Centers- This weeks centers will be our 4 sight words, beginning sounds, and writing around the room.

Math- This week we will continue to learn about Chapter 5 Addition. The children have been doing great so far learning about this topic!

Jesus Time- This week we will read our Children’s Beginner Bible Stories that they love and our religion book, God’s People Get a Land of Their Own.

Science: This week we read our first December scholastic.

Being the first week of advent we will create advent wreaths to countdown the weeks until Christmas! In the next three weeks we will discuss the reason for the season, and enjoy some Christmas stories and activities!

On Monday our Elf on the Shelf should be arriving, and together we will read the story of Elf on the Shelf and name our elf! We will be on our best behavior so our elf can report back to Santa each night! As a class we will follow the number one rule the elf requires, which is no touching!! Otherwise, the elf will loose its magic and not be able to come back to our classroom.

Have a wonderful week!!
