Our last full week of school before Christmas, we cannot believe how fast the days have been going! Our classroom is nicely decorated, and our elf Sparkle Joe or SJ has enjoyed being in our classroom and reporting back to Santa! We have been making Christmas crafts, ornaments and we will continue to enjoy making more.

Language Arts- This week we will begin Unit 4 of our Wonder’s series. Our essential question is, What do people use to do their jobs? We will read, Whose Shoes? A Shoe for Every Job. We will learn a new sight word “you” and we will focus on the letter Oo and its long and short sound. We will continue blending sounds to make a word and identifying the end and middle sounds in CVC words. In grammar, we will be learning about describing words- adjectives- and how we can describe things using colors words.

Language Arts Centers- This weeks centers will be identifying all sounds in CVC words.

Math- This week we begin Module 7 – Represent Numbers 6 to 10 with Objects and have a test on Friday!

Math Centers- We will continue to practice addition and subtraction problems and numbers 6-10.

Jesus Time- We will continue to learn about the reason for the Christmas season and read the stories leading up to Jesus’s birth. Each week we continue to “light” a candle on our advent wreaths, make crafts and watch videos to reinforce what we read.

Social Studies: We will discuss and watch videos on Christmas and the different ways people celebrate. We will also discuss different types of transportation we can use to travel to family for the holidays!
