Your children have been very hard at work in 2AA. We have been learning so much each day about our world, each other and God. I am blessed to be working with such energetic and bright students. I have been finding ways to challenge them individually to ensure they are working to their fullest potential!

Here’s a look at what we will be learning this week!

Math– We will be completing Module 1 this week by adding within 100 using properties of addition to make a ten and decomposing to subtract a ten when subtracting within 100. Then we will apply these strategies to one-step word problems. We will have a test on Module 1 next Tuesday, October 1st.

Reading- We will be reading the story Luka’s Quilt from our reading textbook. Luka has a grandmother from Hawaii who shares about her culture. We will be talking about the Hawaiian culture and writing about traditions we have in our own cultures.

Science- We will be reviewing everything from Chapter 1 about plants. The students will be creating their own vocabulary flash cards.

Social Studies- We will begin Unit 2 on Geography. The students will learn how to locate items on a map and in their neighborhood by using location words.

Religion- We will be reading the stories of “Joseph” and “Moses Leads his People.” We will be discussing how good things can happen during hard times and how God answers our questions.

Tests

Reading- Luka’s Quilt (Friday)

Spelling- Words with long a and long e (Friday)
