Our first writing activity of the New Year involved writing down our New Year’s resolutions. The students of 2AA were creative and clever in choosing goals they would like to accomplish in 2014.

Here’s a look at what we will be learning this week!

Math– To begin Module 4, the students will practice relating 1 more, 1 less, 10 more and 10 less to addition and subtraction of 1 and 10. They will also add and subtract multiples of ten within 100 and solve word problems using strategies based on place value.

Reading- We will be reading the chapter book Horrible Harry Cracks the Code. The students will be working on the skill of making conclusions along with learning new vocabulary words and practicing previous reading strategies.

LA- To complete Unit 3 the students will practice study skills involving maps, review prefixes, and work on putting their writing in logical order.

Science- We will complete chapter 4 by learning how people are alike and different. We will also practice reading a chart that deals with measuring amounts of time. On Friday the students will take a test on chapter 4.

SS– We will continue to learn about freedom and how various people have fought for our country to gain it.

Religion- The story of “Solomon’s Prayer” will help us explore how we can know and do God’s will.
