Last week we completed our first Christmas activity, which was to create cards for those who are sick and shut-in during the holiday season. We turned our classroom into Santa’s craft workshop and the students thought of kind words they could share with others in their creative cards. Our Scholastic magazine from last week reinforced the importance of giving during the holiday season. The students learned about economics and the various ways we can give our money and time to help others.

Here’s a look at what we will be learning this week!

Math– As we continue Module 3, the students will explore situations that involve more than 9 groups of ten.  Then they will practice comparing three digit numbers to each other.

Reading- We will be reading the chapter book December Secrets.

LA- The students are continuing to learn about action verbs, present-tense verbs, past-tense verbs and abbreviations.

Science- We will be learning how young animals are like their parents, how young plants are like their parents, and the life cycle of a bean plant.

SS– The students will learn about pioneers and why Native Americans were forced to move from their land.

Religion- The story of “Jonathan Warns David” will help us explore how we can keep our friends safe.

Tests for the Week
