Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We have a packed 6 weeks left of first grade. Continue to check their green folders for important information. I have announced the date of our Writing Celebration on May 21st. Please let me know if you will be joining us. It is important for the kids and they are so excited to share their stories.
Spelling – 3x each due on Wednesday and spelling test on Friday. This weeks spelling words are: moon, tune, flew, blue, fruit, soup, toy, coin, enough, door
Math – This week our math test is on Tuesday about 2D shapes! Then we will go onto our new module about fractions.
ELA – Reading test is on Thursday. This weeks story is Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type on page 271. Please read the story every night with your child and ask questions to check for understanding. This week we will be learning about suffixes -ful and -less. We will be going deeper into synonyms. This weeks HF words are: answer, brought, busy, door, enough, eyes. This weeks vocabulary words are demand – ask for something strongly. Emergency – when something happens that you do not expect and need to take care of right away.
Writing – We are continuing the writing process of our stories!
Social Studies/ Science – We reviewed Earth day last week. We finished up our lapbooks and the students brought them home last week. This week we will be getting ready for our annual STEM project, growing grass!
Religion – This week we will be moving into stories of Daniel and His Friends about fighting temptation and Three Men in Fiery Furnace about having faith and courage in the Lord when bad things happen.
