Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. We only have about 3 more weeks of school. I cannot believe we are almost at the end. This week our reading and spelling test will be on Friday. Be sure to check their green folders for any important information. Yesterday was our annual Memorial Day Parade. It was so nice to hear the band and everyone cheering! Any questions or concerns please let me know!
Spelling – This week 3x each will be due Thursday and our spelling test will be on Friday. This weeks words are: gnat, gnu, know, knife, write, wrong, cause, dawn, their, been
Math – We will continue with our module about measurement. Our test for this will be next week on Tuesday, June 3rd.
ELA – This week our reading test will be on Friday. Our story for this week is “Rain School” on page 327. Our essential question is “How can weather affect us?” This week we are learning about /gn/ and /wr/. The /g/ and /w/ are silent. We will be reviewing compound words and learning about expressions using like and as. Our HF words are: been, children, month, question, their, year. Our vocabulary words are country – a group where people live and gather – to bring together.
I’m sure you have noticed a lot of comprehension checks in their orange folders. They are becoming experts on reading a passage, reading the question, finding the answer in the passage, and then writing their answers in complete sentences. This may seem easy to us but for them this is a huge milestone that they are able to do this independently with complete sentences as answers! I am so proud of them all.
Writing – Thank you to everyone that came to support the kids at our writing celebration! Seeing their faces light up when reading their story to you made the work all worth it.
Social Studies/ Science – Last week we went into chapter 3 in social studies about our country. For science we will be doing a scholastic on how to protect ourselves from the sun.
Religion – This week we will continue in our religion book 5!
