Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Believe it or not we are less than a month away from the last day of school! This time has gone by so fast and the progress I have seen in all the kids is amazing. I sent out a handout about our Writing Celebration. This celebration will be on May 16th at 10:00. Please Dojo me if you will be attending I hope to see you all there. This week is the first week where the reading test will be a cold read. Throughout the year we have read the story on the reading test 2-3 times before they take it. This time they will read the story the day of the test. This is great preparation for second grade.

Spelling – 3x each or 10 sentences is due Wednesday. Our spelling test will be on Friday and our new words this week are: moon, tune, blue, flew, fruit, soup, toy, coin, enough, door

Math – We will have our math test pushed back one day and it will be on Wednesday (4/8). This will be on module 10 and we will move onto the next module 11.

ELA – This week we will be learning about a tough concept which is “oo” other letters that can make this sound are “u_e, ew, u, ui, and ou,” This will week will definitely be about memorization for these spelling words. We will be reviewing suffixes and synonyms. Our vocabulary words are demand – strongly ask for something and emergency – something to take care of right away. Our new HF words are answer, brought, busy, door, enough, eyes

Writing – We will begin turning our story drafts into our final copies! They will learn about editing and looking over your work to make sure it makes sense and their are no errors.

Social Studies/ Science – We are ending Unit 2 with a in class project. This project is a lapbook about the continents and oceans. Again, this will be done all in class and I cant wait for you to see how they turn out. In science we have been marking down the days of how much our grass is grown. These pots of grass are definitely in need for some haircuts! They will give their grass pots haircuts and put a face on them to take them home.
