Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. We have reached March and I cant believe we have less than 4 months left of school. As you can see at home the Reading tests are becoming a little tougher but this is to ensure a nice transition into second grade. Please continue to check green folders for any important notices or information. This Monday we have our Scholastic book fair the notice was sent home last week about how to send money in. This Friday is also Dress as your favorite book character day in honor of Read Across America. 

 

Spelling – 3x each is due Wednesday and our spelling test will be on Friday. Our new spelling words are: find, kind, night, right, by, pie, boat, no, caught, listen

 

Math – We will continue through module 7. My apologies for the confusion about the date of the math test. Our math test will be next Tuesday 3/12.

 

ELA – This week we will be going over “ie”, “igh”, “y” making the long i sound. We will also be learning about when we want to add an inflectional ending to a word that ends in “y” we must drop the y and add i. We will also be going over context clues in our reading. This weeks vocabulary words are beautiful – pleasing .. fancy – not plain. Our HF words this week are: caught, flew, know, laugh, listen, were

 

Writing – We just finished learning about labels in our illustrations. This week will be all about writing complete sentences. The students are loving this writing unit and I think the progress they are making is wonderful. Here are some of the kids works. They are adding so much more detail into their drawings. They are also writing sentences more independently as each day passes.

 

   

Science – This Friday we will finally be planting our plants outside. Each kid will be able to take it home eventually as well.
