Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We have no school on Friday! This week please read the story sent home on Monday with your child every night. They should be able to read it to you themselves. We also have big news! We will be having a new student, Kabir join our class family. The students have known the news for some time and are thrilled to welcome a new friend! If you have any questions or concerns please dojo me. 

 

Spelling – 3x each is due Thursday this week and our test will be on Thursday as well. Our new spelling words are: cart, art, barn, yarn, arm, harm, happy, key, four, none

 

Math – We will be doing a fun math activity on Monday for St. Patricks Day. Then, we will be continuing with our module 12 and our test for this module will be on Wednesday, March 26th.

 

ELA – Reading test this Thursday. As the students start to become more fluent readers the reading tests will look a little different. This week the story that they will be assessed on Thursday will be sent home Monday night. The story is titled “The Lost Button”. Please read the story with your child every night and encourage them to read it to you. We will be reading the story in class and doing activities with it to check for understanding. This week we are starting r controlled vowels. This week just focuses on the sound /ar/. We will also be learning to drop the “y” at the end of a noun and add “i” when we make a noun plural. We will be talking about homophones. Our HF words this week are: four, large, none, only, put, round. Our vocabulary words are whole – something that is complete and trouble – to cause a problem.

 

Writing – Last week, we wrote about what we would do if we found a pot of gold. The students used a brainstorm map, turned their ideas into sentences, and created a paragraph responding to the question.

 

Social Studies – We have been continuing making our continents and oceans lapbook.

 

Religion – We will be focusing on the story “
