Welcome back! Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
Last week we studied the downfall of King Saul, and on Monday we will study the rise of King David. Then we will learn about the character of David though the saga of his relationship with Bathsheba, and then the rise of their son, King Solomon. The memory verse for this week is 1 John 1:9.
6th Social Studies
In social studies this week we will learn about the philosophy of Daoism, and then the history and cultural contributions of the Han empire in Ancient China.
7th Religion
Early this week, the students will complete and then present their projects on the different types of angels and what the Bible says about them. Then, we will look at what the Bible says about the devil, heaven, and hell. The memory verse for this week is 1 Peter 5:8, which ties in to the lessons this week.
7th Social Studies
The test on Topic 4 is Wednesday, January 15th. Then, the students will work on projects related to the Bill of Rights. They will have the option to write a song, write and act out a skit, or draw a cartoon about one of the 10 Amendments of the Bill of Rights.
8th Religion
On Monday, we will learn about how God called Samuel to serve him in several different vocations throughout his life. This lesson is the basis of the Trimester 2 project. The students will complete a project about how they can serve God in different professions. They will receive the outline on Monday, and then they will complete the project independently at home. In class, we will continue our study of 1 Samuel and how he anointed Israel’s first two kings- Saul and David. The memory verse for this week is 1 Samuel 16:7.
8th Social Studies
The test on Topic 11 is on Wednesday, January 15th. Then we will begin Topic 12, which will cover American imperialism, the Spanish American War, and World War I. We will begin with learning about how the U.S. gained power and territory in the Pacific.
